The Start Line Squad
Every young runner needs someone at the start line. Our volunteers make race days happen for over 600 children at every fixture — and every one of them finishes with a smile.
Why join the Squad?
The Sefton Primary Schools Cross Country League brings together 33 schools and five fixtures of pure community sport. None of it happens without volunteers. Whether you can spare one morning a season or every race day, you'll be giving local children the chance to run, belong and shine — no experience needed, just a warm coat and a big cheer.
Ways you can help
Race-day Marshals
Be the friendly face on the course. Marshals keep our young runners safe, point the way and cheer them on at every corner.
Course Setup & Take Down
Help us lay out the flags, cones and finish funnel before the first race — and pack it all away with a smile afterwards.
Finish Line Team
Record the finishes that decide our league champions. Every position you write down is a memory a child keeps forever.
Registration & Number Pins
Greet the schools, hand out race numbers and help nervous first-timers feel like champions before they even start.
Photography & Social Media
Capture the muddy smiles and sprint finishes that tell Sefton's cross country story to thousands of local families.
First Aid
Provide reassurance (and the odd plaster) so every child crosses the line safe and happy.
